Hi, I’m Katie Rodriguez, the founder of Ride Better.
I’m a professional dressage rider and trainer, and I’ve spent my career helping riders understand their horses, build confidence, and make meaningful progress in their training.
And over the years, I kept seeing the same problem.
A rider could have a fantastic lesson. We could identify exactly what needed to change, find an exercise that made a huge difference, and finish the lesson with a clear direction.
Then I might not see that rider again for another week.
In between, they still had horses to ride.
They had good rides, difficult rides, questions, moments where something suddenly clicked, and moments where they weren't sure whether they were doing something correctly at all.
As trainers, we want our students to become independent, thoughtful riders. But we also can't stand in the arena with them for every ride.
That gap is where the idea for Ride Better came from.
I wanted to create something that could help riders carry their training forward between lessons—not by replacing trainers, but by helping riders get more out of the training they already have.
Ride Better gives your training somewhere to live.
Your rides. Your goals. Your progress. What worked. What needs more attention. The exercises that helped. Your weekly plan. Your trainer's direction. And, ultimately, an answer to the question so many riders have when they get on:
“What should I work on today?”
I also wanted Ride Better to reflect something I believe deeply as a horse trainer: there is no single perfect training program for every horse.
Horses are individuals.
So are riders.
That's why Ride Better allows riders to customize their training style, schedule, workload preferences, goals, and other details that make their program their own.
Technology will never replace horsemanship, feel, experience, or a great trainer—and I don't want it to.
I want it to help us use those things better.
Your trainer can't be there for every ride. Your training program can.
